I count a product as giving you overage if you do not have to pay even sales tax for it. In Alabama, you have to pay sales tax on the product's price BEFORE manufacturer coupons. What this means: for a product that costs $1.00 you will actually pay $1.08 after 8% sales tax. So a $1/1 coupon does not make it "free," it makes it $0.08.
